Hermine Dreyfuss’s Expertise As a Visual Ethnographer/Photographer, I have traveled throughout five continents documenting traditional and modern cultures with a particular emphasis on the cultures of developing countries as well as traditional textiles. Since 1992, I have collected images in the former Soviet Union, building an archive of images reflecting the changes since independence. I live with local families on repeated visits, participate in daily routines and try to capture the essence of the cultural aspects of a country. Specialties: I work with local artisans to develop and market their products in the United States as well as photograph the processes by which they create and produce their specialties.
