Hing Potter Ed’s Expertise I pride myself on being focused within three areas as a professional: student development, inclusion and empowerment. Student Development My role has been to support student development by creating space and opportunity for self authorship. This is essential for students to discover how they want to write their own stories, challenge their experiences, question assumptions, and find their voices and agency. Inclusion To echo Angela Y. Davis, "I have a hard time accepting diversity as a synonym for justice. Diversity is a corporate strategy." Therefore, it must be through the lens of inclusion that we aim to support all students and model ourselves in the way we wish to see our future. After all, it is not just enough to invite people to the dance. We must ASK how others would like to dance. Empowerment Student development, inquiry and growth cannot take place without validating student's value and worth. Through empowerment, students can be encouraged to enter brave spaces, self identify, and begin to form their own social fabrics to ignite change against the status quo.
