  My name is Huston Mgbemena. I'm a proud product of Alief, TX (aka SWAT, USA), a southwest urban suburb of Houston, TX. Alief wasn't the most pristine places growing up. I saw things that children shouldn't see growing up. But with the guidance of very involved parents who were African immigrants, I was able to navigate my way into college. Even though I took advanced courses I wasn't the smartest. I wasn't the most academically affluent. To be honest school was pretty hard. I didn't see myself as a scholar. But some how some way with wit, charisma, and flat out hard work I found my voice. I was a servant leader. I'm the give shirt off my back guy. And these are very important skills needed in environments of high achievement. As an educator, nonprofit practitioner, trainer and consultant, I have spent a better part of almost 15 years developing learners of all ages to find the best way for them to learn. We are all learners. Honestly it is easy to learn. We are curious creatures that have a thirst to gain knowledge of something. We just need to get rid of the things that interfere with that process and water the things that drive inquiry. I am THE Project Based Learning Black Guy.
