Jake Eliot’s Expertise A highly motivated public policy and strategy professional with strong skills in policy development, influencing, analysis and stakeholder management. In addition to my expertise as an advocate, I enjoy writing for, and presenting to, a range of audiences. I have built and managed complex partnerships and am energised by working in dynamic teams to deliver ambitious work programmes that seek to transform public services and develop new solutions to big challenges in public policy. I have particular interest in public policy questions in heritage, economic development, housing, and how to effectively commission, manage and shape public services that respond to, and reflect the needs of, communities and the complex lives of citizens in the UK. Skills • Purposeful strategy and policy development: leading teams develop creative and practical policy solutions and leading outcomes-focused plans and initiatives to achieve them. • Clear and persuasive advocacy: building and communicating an evidence-based case for change, writing and presenting to a diverse range of audiences of policymakers, regulators and the third sector. I began my career writing speeches in the House of Lords, and always enjoy opportunities to craft arguments that make a difference, whether I'm making the case myself or putting words in other people's mouths. • Building and managing partnerships: developing active collaborations across the voluntary and public sector that enable the organisations I work in and with to achieve more together than we can do alone. • Creating actionable knowledge and insights for policy change: scoping, commissioning and managing research and development projects that are useful as well as interesting, developing and implementing outcomes-focused business plans.
