James Langabeer’s Expertise James Langabeer is an endowed tenured full Professor (data and behavioral sciences) and Executive Director at the University of Texas Health Science Center. He has developed and led major clinical research projects that have garnered national acclaim across cardiovascular, emergency, and addiction medicine and has generated over 60 million in research funding. He is well known for the success of founding and leading the Houston Emergency Opioid Engagement System (HEROES), a statewide effort to combat fentanyl and substance use disorders through clinical and behavioral interventions and for founding the largest health information exchange organization in Texas. He currently sits on the National Academy of Medicine's Action Collaborative and is the former national Chair of the American Heart Association's Ambulatory Quality Committee and the national Chair of the HIMSS Performance improvement Committee. James has been a CEO, COO, board member, and has consulted with organizations across Europe, Israel, and the US. As a senior executive, he has taken two startups from concept to successful companies. He uses this business expertise to help busy professionals and entrepreneurs with comprehensive financial and tax planning. James insights have been featured in Oprah, Forbes, MoneyGeek, NerdWallet, Success, Texas Monthly, and he has appeared live on NBC, Fox, CBS News, and NPR, among others. He has published over 125 peer-reviewed journal articles and seven books, including one of the most widely used healthcare management textbooks and an award-winning book on personal finance. Dr. Langabeer holds a Ph.D. in Business (Management Sciences) from the University of Lancaster in England, and an MBA in Finance from Baylor University. He also completed both the Oxford University Business School's prestigious executive business strategy program, and the Harvard Business School behavioral economics and decision-making program. He is a Fellow of the American Heart Association and the American College of Healthcare Executives.
