James Vinson’s Expertise My name is Jim Vinson and I am a Electro/Mechanical Design Engineer with over 30 years of progressive experience as a senior designer. I have worked in all phases of manufactured electromechanical systems development, working with 2D and 3D CAD software to design and prepare parts, prototypes, assembly diagrams, and electrical schematics and wiring systems. I have served in progressive roles developing, implementing, and supporting the electromechanical engineering design processes of multi-million dollar, international manufacturing initiatives. My work history includes leading the development and deployment of design initiatives for clients including the United States Army, the United States Navy, and NASA. Working at the highest level of engineering development and management has allowed me to make significant contributions over the course of my career to fulfill the role of a Electro/Mechanical Design Engineer. For the past 2 years I have working as a senior electrical design engineer for SAIC at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt Maryland. During this time, I have worked on cable harnesses for a robotic arm on a satellite. The important work that I have been doing has been crucial in getting a quality product out to our customers. That product is in the form of detailed cable drawings, wiring harnesses and schematics. Using SolidWorks and Creo7.0, I have routed harnesses of fabrication boards for manufacturing. I am also currently Involved in checking drawings and ECN’s, solving drawing and modeling issues that may occur. When the need arises, I have also lent a hand on building cable assemblies and wiring enclosures. Using Solidworks and Creo we control the revisions and in turn send a corrected version to the customer. The sum of my extensive professional background in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering taught me the importance of precise creative thinking, giving me the knowledge of engineering processes that position a company for success. I enjoy meeting challenges with a strong work ethic, a will to succeed, and a genuine desire to participate in design and engineering operations founded on open communication, high ethical standards, and excellence in the workplace.
