James Walker’s Expertise Having recently graduated with a postgraduate degree in Medical Visualisation and Human Anatomy jointly between the Glasgow School of Art and the University of Glasgow, I am currently working as a Market Intelligence Officer within the University of Glasgow's External Relations directorate, as well as continuing to develop my anatomical education research. At the moment my specific academic interests are primarily focused on embalming and anatomical education. This includes study of various embalming methods and their applications in anatomical education, cadaveric research and also topics within the funeral profession. In addition to this the forensic implications of embalming and the processes of decomposition are of interest. I am also actively engaged in use of digital media and other resources for anatomical education and clinical teaching. In all of these areas, I also have an avid interest in their history and the relevant legislation surrounding them. Prior to returning to university I was involved in the death care profession; particularly mortuary science and funeral service which I entered after completing my BSc in Biomedical Science at the University of Strathclyde. I still have strong interests in this area, especially with regards to funerary and mortuary law, practices and history. In addition to this, I also have extensive experience in the customer service industry; specialising in Scottish licensing law, complaint handling and conflict management.
