Throughout my career I've found the most rewarding moments to come when I hear those words, and luckily in my line if work, this still happens constantly, even after over a decade of working in IT. In my current position, it may be that one OU that's missing a setting due to something strange in the Group Policy configuration, it could be that bizarre mailflow issue that's causing accounting to see emails missing, or if I'm really lucky it's followed up with "Do you think there's a way we can do this better?" In my life as a systems engineer I get to enjoy not only the mysteries that are the escalated tickets and outages, but also tackle the challenge of improving each and every day, be it designing a new system, or just implementing a new process. It's because of these things that I think my line of work is arguable the most interesting and exciting on a day to day basis and what makes me constantly look to the horizon for what is new. My skills and interests applicable to my current role are: Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, Group Policy, Virtualization with VMWare, Cloud Computing with AWS, Veeam backup, Microsoft Exchange, and ADFS to name a few. However, I'm always willing and looking forward to the next technology and platform to explore and gain the knowledge about so I can get those "Hey Jared" type questions about it! Gxo Logistics
