After receiving her teaching credential from UCSD, Jayne worked as an award-winning a sixth-grade teacher in the San Ysidro School District before returning to UCSD to earn an M.A. in Teaching & Curriculum Design. Over the next five years, she served as a teacher at both Darnall E-Campus - one of the first charter schools in San Diego County - and the prestigious Del Mar Pines School. In 2000, Jayne transitioned from the classroom to the Content Department at EdVISION, a local start-up (later purchased by Scantron), assisting in the development of the first online, adaptive, standardized, student assessment system for use in K-12 schools. As Scantron's Performance Series hit the market, Jayne become an educational consultant with the State Education and Environment Roundtable (SEER). Using her knowledge of educational content standards and assessment, she trained teachers, administrators, and community members in SEER's nationally-recognized EIC Model, and later helped the State of California develop the ground-breaking EEI Model Curriculum, adopted by the State Board of Education in 2010. Following these achievements, Jayne studied at Clarion University and earned an M.S. in Library Science in 2012. As a librarian and manager for the San Diego Public Library, the San Diego County Library, for Sharp HealthCare, and now for National City Public Library, Jayne continues to champion inclusion and service to all community members with dignity and respect.
