I'm one of those people, and I've dedicated my career as a psychologist to supporting people like me. The technical term for this kind of person is "intellectually gifted". Sometimes that's simplified to mean having a high IQ, but the qualitative life experience of a gifted person is so much more complex and colorful than just their IQ score. And sometimes it comes along with other challenges, such as twice-exceptionalities and traumas related to giftedness. In the evolution of my work, I've created a holistic model of giftedness that looks both at intellectual giftedness, and other essential areas of intelligence: emotional, creative, sensual, physical and existential. This model is designed to support gifted-specific development: I use it to help gifted adults become aware of the map of their own mind and potential, and to align that potential to their authentic personal, social and existential values and purpose. My mission extends beyond the individual to the gifted global community: through the international organization I've founded and direct, I spend my time developing gifted leaders, training psychologists and coaches in gifted psychology, providing giftedness assessments, fostering gifted community, and raising public awareness about giftedness and the need for gifted-specific resources and professional support. I do this work consciously in the context of our current collective moment, which requires attunement to the whole web of life and its sacredness. We're individually and collectively challenged to use and develop our individual and interconnected intelligences in a way that sustains life and provides holistic solutions to the complex problems of the meta-crisis we are living in. As such, a lot of my work crosses over into the ecological domain, focusing on ecopsychology, contemplative psychology, climate psychology, and degrowth. I support gifted leaders in developing their intelligence and gifts in the service of Life, gaining wisdom and aligning their individual leadership path mindfully and meaningfully with the trajectory of the collective moment.
