  Over the course of my scientific career I have enjoyed the opportunity to examine a variety of projects associated with human health. Currently I am using Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry to quantify micronutrients levels in different crops. This information provides guidance in selection of plant breeding lines that have higher nutritional value for consumers. During my Graduate Studies work I pursued the crystallization and X-ray diffraction data collection of a domain of a cancer regulatory protein in order to understand the impact of mutations on protein function and disease state. Examining both the wild-type protein and mutants found in cancer tissues allowed for the observation of changes these mutations causes, and possible roles that they might play in regulation of the protein and its binding partners. Presenting the findings obtained, and the general wonders and importance of science is another aspect of the work that I greatly enjoy. The chance to pass these scientific writings and knowledge on to others allows for the results to grow and new discoveries to be made through collaboration. My time assisting in the instruction of biochemistry undergraduate teaching laboratories reinforced the sense of value that passing on knowledge and helping to guide the next generation of scientists provides.
