I have in depth familiarity with a wide range of contract formats, both bespoke and industry standard (JCT. NEC and FIDIC); leading complex commercial negotiations (including PFI and PPP funded infrastructure projects); dealing with risk and disputes including adjudications, litigation and arbitration developing and delivering training and coaching programmes at all levels: ensuring best quality service outcomes to the highest professional standards. My experience extends to advising on energy projects including the drafting and negotiation of turbine supply, civil and electrical/mechanical, operation and maintenance contracts including the use of off-shore LOGIC forms of contract As General Counsel I have taken on strategic leadership of a broad spectrum of advisory, operational and project based functionalities: including land acquisition, financing, planning, construction, estates management, risk and dispute management: successfully engaging with and managing a panel of external legal advisers, and ensuring optimal advisory support, as well as best value for money, at all times. In terms of my background in complex construction projects, I am proud to have been Lead Lawyer, advising the Welsh Government, on the commercial negotiations and contractual documentation relating to construction of the Senedd Debating Chamber (a high profile, 60 Million project). I also acted for a Joint Venture Contractor on the 2 Billion Gold Line, Doha Metro Project in Qatar: the world’s largest civil engineering project at the time.
