  My life-long interests are language and culture. I spent 16 years in academia, 25 years in commercial high-tech software, and now I’m doing my own thing. I’ve been interested in the Korean language ever since I worked with a Korean engineering team on a Korean speech recognizer at Lernout & Hauspie in the 1990’s, and I’ve recently been studying it formally including both independently and in courses. I found it a difficult language to learn and became interested in using my linguistic and programming skills to build tools that might make it easier, for me and for other learners.
