John Babak Soroushian’s Expertise John Soroushian is an innovative technology policy leader and the Senior Associate Director of Business and Technology at the Bipartisan Policy Center. He leads lean teams to put together influential policy reports, private convenings that bring together influential stakeholders with opposing views, and public events designed to educate policymakers and promote compromise solutions. He has led initiatives focused on artificial intelligence, virtual reality, augmented reality, cryptocurrencies, blockchain, low Earth orbit satellites, and the economic impacts of emerging technology. In 2019, John initiated the Bipartisan Policy Center's work on technology policy (with very limited technology expertise given his background in finance and economics at the time) by persuading senior management about the strategic importance of artificial intelligence and working tirelessly to become an expert on the emerging topic. He led this effort, in coordination with BPC's director of strategic initiatives, to work with two members of Congress to put together a national strategy on AI for Congress. The effort resulted in a series of key stakeholders convenings and groundbreaking policy reports that became the basis for a national strategy on AI for Congress that passed as a House Resolution in 2020 and resulted in the formation of BPC's technology project. He has since supported the then newly hired director for the technology project and engaged in other critical issues senior management deemed strategically important, such as several initiatives in the financial services space.
