John Currin’s Expertise Since 2009, I have worked at a Joint Force Command Headquarters developing communication strategies and plans that integrate and synchronize Public Affairs, Information Operations and Key Leader Engagements with themes and messages in support of military and strategic objectives. I have a life-long interest in history, especially the Tudor-Stuart era in Britain (1485-1714); in politics and political theory; in military and strategic studies; and in international relations and diplomacy. I combined these interests as history lecturer and professor and in my academic research and publications on the military and diplomatic strategies of Henry VII, King of England (1485-1509). In 2003, I joined the White House Staff in the Administration of President George W. Bush as Director of a team that assessed the information used in drafts of the President’s speeches to ensure factual accuracy. My team recommended factual revisions to draft speeches, and prepared detailed annotated notes to each speech detailing the primary source documentation and official data that supported facts and assertions made in the speeches. In 2006, I transferred to the Department of Defense (DoD), Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Legislative Affairs and headed a team that provided various research products for the Secretary of Defense and other senior Pentagon leaders as preparation for their testimony and engagements with Members of Congress. Communication with audiences is a consistent theme in my careers as a Teacher, Historian, Writer, Fact-Checking Director for Presidential speeches and Director for legislative support helping facilitate senior DoD engagements with Congress.
