John Katsafados’s Expertise While a Fortune 10 company might seem like the opposite of a startup, that’s actually how my journey at Apple began–in a new division that was a startup within the organization. Back then, I was part of a small team helping build our new division focused on the SMB market (companies with under 1K employees). From developing processes to recruiting new talent, we navigated ambiguity every day and had to be scrappy. Many years later, our division looks a lot different—we’ve grown to a multi-billion-dollar business, and I now lead a 300-person team spanning the Eastern U.S., Canada, and LATAM. I’m proud of my team’s achievements and grateful for their hard work—we’ve been able to grow omnichannel revenue for our assigned regions 4X in the time I’ve been a Director, playing a key role in the overall growth of Apple’s SMB business. DELIVERING CONSISTENT REVENUE GROWTH Ultimately, our results are dependent on the actions taken by our sales professionals—that’s why I’m a big believer in focusing on behavior to drive consistent growth and achieve goals. With that in mind, I spearheaded creation of AI/ML-driven CRM solutions that help business development team members to tackle the right tasks at the right times. Perhaps most importantly, these solutions enable my managers to provide laser-focused individualized coaching. CULTIVATING LEADERS Beyond the impact we make, the other thing that gets me excited is supporting the professional growth of my team members through ongoing mentoring. It’s been rewarding to watch many of them advance within the team and develop as leaders. I’m also fortunate to have team members who have been with me my entire time at Apple (some of them going back in my Best Buy for Business and CompUSA Business days!).
