John Phillips’s Expertise John J. Prior to joining Cornerstone and MassMutual, Mr. Phillips was an attorney with Dechert LLP and Day Berry & Howard LLP (now Day Pitney LLP), focusing on real estate transactions and structured finance. He received a BA in journalism and political science from the University of Rhode Island, a JD from the University of Connecticut School of Law, and an MBA from Boston University. After graduating from law school, Mr. Phillips served as law clerk to the Hon. Robert I. Berdon, Associate Justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court. He has served as a guest speaker on real estate legal issues for numerous professional groups. He is licensed to practice law in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
