I also guides veterans and their families through the VA benefits application process. Before joining Takacs McGinnis Elder Care Law, I held a variety of roles that touched the lives of seniors. During college, I worked as a caregiver for a Cookeville area in-home care firm. Before graduation, I landed an internship with the Upper Cumberland Development District's Area Agency on Aging and Disability that evolved into a full-time position while I was still in school. I had the chance to serve in several roles at the agency, including Wellness Site Champion; a member of the Senior Medicare Patrol, where I worked to combat Medicare fraud; and SHIP Benefits Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator, where I managed and trained the team of volunteers providing Medicare assistance to seniors and disabled adults. Teaching Medicare helped me learn it, and I loved working with the volunteers! I am passionate about my role as an advocate for senior health. By helping seniors review their prescription drug plans, I have saved Medicare beneficiaries over 1,500,000. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology with a concentration in social work from Tennessee Technological University, and I am finishing my doctorate in jurisprudence at Nashville School of Law.
