  My Past... My employee benefits career began with Aetna Life Insurance in their home office in Hartford, CT. I relocated to MA in 1984, working for a self-funding TPA. In 1987, I joined the Sylvia Group to establish their employee benefits division and enjoyed a 32 year career with them, working with our clients through many changes and challenges. There is never a dull moment in employee benefits!! A perpetual student, teacher and leader within the health insurance industry, I have pursued many professional designations in insurance, including Registered Health Underwriter (RHU), Long Term Care (CLTC), and Licensed Insurance Advisor (LIA), certifications in PPACA, Consumer Driven Health Care, Self Funding and Wellness. Being informed and involved in one's profession is extremely important to me. I've served on the board of the MA Assoc of Health Underwriters (MassAHU) since 1998, and on NAHU's national board from 2011-2015. I've been actively engaged in the business community as a board member and volunteer instructor for the Southcoast Worksite Wellness Collaborative, Southcoast Human Resources Council, and Junior Achievement of Southern MA. As a postscript to my benefits career, I became the Executive Director for MassAHU after retiring from Sylvia Group. It's been rewarding and fun to continue to work with so many great people in my profession. However, I'm happy to turn the reins over to an association management firm as of January 2022, while I continue to serve the association as a member of the Board of Directors.
