June Miller’s Expertise I currently teach Anatomy & Physiology, Ecology, and Honors Physical Science. My colleagues in the science department and I have developed a four-year curriculum in all of the sciences at our school, incorporating national science standards and emphasizing student-centered instruction with daily hands-on activities. I have served as department chairperson. In spring of 2014 I was awarded a fellowship with the American Physiological Society (APS). This fellowship involved working full-time during the summer in the human physiology lab of Dr. Andrew Lovering at the University of Oregon and taking a course in activity-based science teaching through the APS. The fellowship will culminate in my attendance at the Experimental Biology Conference in Boston with spring.I most recently worked per diem on special assignments in the Transfusion Services Laboratory. Previous to that I worked as a senior technologist in the Chemistry, Hematology, and Transfusion Services Laboratories. From October, 2005 until August, 2007 I held the position of Education Coordinator for the entire laboratory system. I also served as a member of the implementation team for a new transfusion service software system. I trained new employees and medical technology students during the entire duration of my employment at PeaceHealth.I gained various and extensive experience in the Clinical Hematology Laboratories and Section of Organ Transplantation as a senior technologist, and as a supervisor in the Clinical Hematology Laboratory and the Special Morphology (Bone Marrow) Laboratory. As the Quality Assurance and Development Supervisor in the Clinical Hematology Laboratory, my duties included updating and writing procedures, evaluating new equipment, and sole supervision of the laboratory on weekends. As Special Morphology supervisor, I was directly responsible for all laboratory testing as well as orientation and teaching of new technologists and medical technology students. I participated in educational programs for resident physicians and medical students in the Departments of Medicine and Pathology at Rush Medical College.
