But - I feel most compelled about work when it might improve my coworkers’ lives… So I think you could say coworker obsession is my top priority! ☺️ After getting my degree in Law, Societies, and Justice, I worked at a couple of legal startups. One of my most impactful experiences was as a case manager at a law firm. I loved talking to clients and making them feel like someone was on their team, but I didn’t always feel like I could solve their problems (and that was way above my pay grade, let’s be honest). I ended up talking with a dear friend about their experiences at a dev shop in Seattle and loved how they became so fiery discussing their work on accessible software. I wanted some of that! I wanted to feel like I could have an immediate and lasting impact on someone’s experience using something I built. I tried doing FreeCodeCamp for a month, then immediately took the plunge into a software engineering immersive with General Assembly. While I am laser-focused on making user-inclusive products that are performant and pixel-perfect with Figma/Adobe/a PDF that you slide my way, I think that excellent co-workership is foundational to great software. Treating my coworkers with kindness and supporting them in all aspects of work drives me to create great products, and I ask the same in return. My current high-touch skills include React, TypeScript, and Ruby on Rails. I find it easy to connect my experience with these skills to new ones and do not limit myself to any corner of the stack.
