Fast forward another 4 years, I was the Director of Account Management for the Northern European region at Outbrain - working with clients sitting within the UK, Ireland and the Nordics. Once I felt I had mastered Native Advertising, I decided to leave the UK and head back home to the US. Reflecting upon my 8 years thus far in the industry, I've learned many things. Most of all, I've learned these three: 1. Check your ego at the door. Being an effective leader means willing to be vulnerable and not letting the actions or words of others affect your work. Focus on yourself, your team and the good work you are doing. 2. To be a good partner to your client, means willing to have those tough conversations. Be open, honest and considerate. Solutions can be found even when you have different opinions. 3. Make decisions, but be willing to the change course. We cannot control the bulk majority of the things around us, but if we're flexible we can adapt to any situation. With experiences we learn many things, but the three above have helped me in more ways than one.
