Kenya Suyama’s Expertise As the senior principal researcher of the Nuclear Safety Research Center (NSRC) of JAEA since April 2024, I have been instrumental in the Reactor Physics Division (vice president), Nuclear Data Division, International Nuclear Information Network (vice president), Standards Committee (vice president of Criticality Safety Division) and the International Activities Committee of the Atomic Energy Society of Japan. -- Since 1995, I have been in charge of research on nuclear fuel cycle physics, including the development of computer codes, at the Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute (JAERI) and the JAEA. I have been deeply involved in the Nuclear Science activities under the Nuclear Science Committees (NSC) of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) / Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) for over twenty years, having worked in the Nuclear Science Section of the OECD/NEA from 2000 to 2003. From 2008 to 2010, I had the privilege of serving at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan as the Director of the Office of International Relations of the Nuclear Safety Division. During this time, I successfully extended information exchange agreements between MEXT and our esteemed international partners. Since 2012, I have led the JAEA's research group on reactor physics and computer code development. In July 2017, I became a Senior principal researcher at the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA). Head of the Data Bank - OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (April 2018 to March 2021). Leading the project of “conversion of the criticality assembly STACY (Static Experiment Critical Facility)” of JAEA as manager of the Fuel Cycle Safety Research Division and leader of the Criticality Safety Research Group, Nuclear Safety Research Center (NSRC) of Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) (April 2021 - March 2024).
