Another of my passions has been for the last 10yrs as an unpaid professional on the water as a Search & Rescue (SAR) community as an active crew member of Auckland Coastguard Inc. In this function one must pass seamanship modules based on the position you wish to attain, SAR rescue modules to be able to operate as part of the team (many of these are NZQA cetified) and pass every two years the Marine Medic assessment.
