  My fascination with media began in grade school when, as a child who frequently forgot his house key, I found myself repeatedly locked outside with nothing to do but read the afternoon newspaper. In 2013, I embraced a new challenge: earning a master’s degree in teaching and serving as an art teacher at the most diverse middle school in the entire state of Missouri. It was the hardest – and most rewarding – job ever. Leveraging my marketing communications skills, I branded my classroom as "Studio 217" with its own logo, signage, Facebook page, and online sales of student art. Additionally, I advised the yearbook staff. In my fourth year, I was honored with the Teacher of the Year award (technically, the “Cultures of Excellence Award”) for my school. Driven by creativity and innovation, I transitioned from teaching to launch the KC Downtown Loop — an online publication focusing on Downtown Kansas City. While it achieved success, it was time to bid farewell as I wound down the publication in April 2024. In late July 2024, I accepted the assistant director's position at the North Kansas City Business Council, and a couple weeks later started my work to help inform, support and connect the businesses of North Kansas City, Missouri.
