  Have you ever sat in a room full of people and wondered if you were the only person who felt lost or overwhelmed? When did this all change? How did I miss it? After four years spent out of the educational environment, I was hired as a grade six “Social Studies and Technology" teacher in New Jersey. As I sat down at my first staff development, I realized that everything was new and different. How was I supposed to work this machine? The screen was black. I was surrounded by people I had never met and needed to impress. Who could I trust to ask the important question -- “How do I turn this computer on?” This event shaped who I am as a technology coach and a teacher. I strive to make every individual I work with feel safe and comfortable and to understand there is no question too simple. Just ask it. In my years as an educator, I have worked in a variety of grade levels and content areas across each division. In addition to my many roles in the classroom, I have also worked as an elementary school technology coach. Currently, I am teaching MYP Individuals & Societies to sixth graders as well as developing and coordinating the advisory program in the middle school. I have taught in six different schools located in five countries. I continually work to transform my practice as well as the practice of those around me. I have supported schools in their transition to the mac platform, helped to lead teachers through the transition to both PYP and MYP in our school, and collaborated with teachers as we adapted to virtual and hybrid teaching. My strengths are in making connections, establishing a sense of trust and respect, and working with each person to move them forward from where they currently stand. As a coach, I accomplished this through co-planning, developing and conducting a variety of training sessions, and following a co-teaching model that is individualized for each teacher. As a trainer, my strength is being able to analyze where a group or individual needs support, create a program and learning materials based around these needs, and deliver training in a fun, safe, and appropriate way so that everyone feels successful. As a classroom teacher, I have developed a curriculum that promotes collaboration while giving students choice in how they will reach their learning goals. In addition, I have coordinated our advisory program at the middle school, supporting our students in the development of their social emotional skills as well as creating a trusting and caring community where all members feel safe.
