Laura Leon’s Expertise Cuban soprano Laura León is quickly becoming a rising star on the operatic stages with a voice that “sparkles, seduces and languishes.-Opera News” Having her recent debut singing as a soloist at Carnegie Hall in Vaughan William's Serenade to Music and Mozart's Missa Brevis K220 was a great start of 2022-2023 season. This season Mrs. Leon takes the stage by surprise as All the Heroines in the famous "The Tales of Hoffmann" by Offenbach with Opera Louisiane and debuts as Ana Maria in the New Opera "Zorro" with Opera Southwest. Also this season Mrs. Leon sang the roles of Cristina Kahlo in Frida, Lauretta in Gianni Schicci, Adina in L'elisir d'amore and Amore in "Orfeo ed Euridice". Mrs. Leon is better known for her several performances of Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute, Lucia in Lucia di lammermoor, Leila in The Pearl Fishers and Norina in Don Pasquale. Her past credits include Susanna in Figaro 90210!, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos, Mary in Fellow Travelers, Oscar in Un ballo in Maschera, Muzetta in La Boheme, Pamina in The Magic Flute, Lakme in Lakme, Gilda in Rigoletto, Laula in L'etoile, Cunegonde in Candide and Maria in West Side Story. Laura is a 2018 winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council competition for the district of Florida, first place winner in the NSAL 2018 Florida District Competition. 2019 winner of the Deborah Voigh Competition Rising Stars, a 2018 Jensen Foundation finalist, a , a second-place consecutively 2018 and 2019 winner in the St. Petersburg Opera Competition, and 1st place winner of the Concerto Competition of Florida International University her alma mater.
