Acted as liaison between engineering community and IT staff, tracked project status and user requirements, and resolved any conflicting issues. Also acted as technical lead which consisted of answering high level technical questions, guiding technical training paths of staff, and performing last level trouble shooting. Performed systems capacity planning and new systems evaluation. Investigate new products and keep abreast of current market trends. Advise engineering community on computing and development environment.System Administrator where duties consisted of administration and network LAN/WAN management in two of NEC America's divisions. Assisted in supervision and support of the computing and networking environment of these divisions, totaling approximately 400 users. Responsibilities included maintaining high system availability of ten file servers and approximately 300 client systems as well as network connectivity to Internet. Network design and evaluation, purchase of hardware and software, and the subsequent installation of these items. Designing programs/scripts for the automation of this environment, writing standard procedures, and overseeing backup procedures. Management of NIS, NFS, and News utilities. Basic daily user support, troubleshooting system problems, hardware maintenance and installation, and inventory tracking.
