  Hi, reader! I'm Lindsay, and my entire career is the result failing economics during my sophomore year of undergrad. I know, it sounds weird. But it's true! Not only was this my first big (in this case, literal) failure, but I had always done well in school prior to that point. It definitely shook me up, and I was so tired of pouring time and effort into something I didn't feel like I was any good at. So, I decided to pour my time and effort into something I not only knew I was good at, but would hopefully make a difference to others. This resulted in AMPLIFY, a blog I started the evening I got my grade that exclusively covered emerging musicians. I wanted to create a space to highlight those who were doing incredible work, but were flying under the radar of larger publications. I ran AMPLIFY for four years, and in that time I attracted a team of contributing photographers and writers. To provide a fun fact, AMPLIFY was one of the earliest blogs to cover Billie Eilish. Writing samples from AMPLIFY led to me writing about music for Consequence for five years, which is an experience I'm insanely grateful for. While writing for Consequence, I started receiving press releases for a wider array of artists, and noticed a gap in the market -- emerging talent seldom had PR representation. So, one BA in PR (Magna Cum Laude) and one MA in entrepreneurship (Distinction) later, I launched my own PR agency, Carnival of Oddities. Much like AMPLIFY, Carnival of Oddities exists to serve the up-and-comers in the music industry. Through Carnival, I've booked international tours, expanded into event representation, planned and executed client press campaigns, and more (you can scroll down to get the full shebang!). My work at Carnival of Oddities has even resulted in media coverage, which is lovely (albeit still very surreal to me). What I'm proudest of, though, is that I've done Carnival of Oddities all on my own. I never pursued investment or funding, nor have I hired anyone to assist me. Everything that has happened with the business is because I've done it myself, and I've done it my way. So, all in all, I'm forever grateful for the lessons and opportunity that bloomed from my first big failure. It's why where I am today. If you've made it this far, thanks!
