Lisa Ford’s Expertise Lisa Ford is RBC Senior Director, Enterprise Payments - Business Risk & Industry Affairs. In this role, Lisa leads a team responsible for interbank operations, business risk, and industry affairs for enterprise payments. Lisa and her team provide strategic direction to manage key business risks across payments transformation initiatives, while navigating ongoing compliance with the complex set of rules and systems underpinning RBC’s participation in multiple payments networks around the world, including Payments Canada, Interac, and SWIFT. Lisa is also RBC lead in multiple industry forums, including with Payments Canada and the Canadian Bankers Association. Lisa has extensive experience with over 18 years with the RBC Law Group, supporting many areas of the bank, including business deposits, cash management, digital solutions, lending, open banking, and payments. As industry Co-chair for Payments Canada’s Legal and Policy Group, she has also been instrumental in developing the new legal and regulatory framework for Payments Canada’s new high-value payments system (Lynx) and upcoming real-time rail (RTR) payments system. As Co-chair of RBC Law Group’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee for several years, Lisa has also been a champion for diversity and inclusion in RBC’s workplace and the broader community. In 2021, Lisa was recognized with an RBC Performance Leadership Award for outstanding leadership in open banking and payments. She is also recipient of the RBC Performance Convention Award, and two-time Individual Gold Award winner. She has also been recognized by the broader community as a 2021 Canadian Law Awards Excellence Awardee for being a “Female Trailblazer” in the legal profession, and as a 2020 Women in Payments Innovation Award finalist. Lisa’s speaking engagements include the global stage at SIBOS 2019 in London, England, where she represented Canada in a panel discussion comparing regulatory perspectives on open banking with the US, UK, and Australia; 2019 Payments Canada SUMMIT discussing wholesale payments and “Balancing Speed and Risk in Today’s Rapidly Evolving World”; 2018 Payments Canada SUMMIT on “Managing Fraud Risk: The Faster Payments Panel”; 2018 ETA Policy discussing “The Role of FINTECH in Canadian Payments”; and 2018 IT.CAN Annual Conference discussing “The Fintech Evolution Revolution”. In December 2016, she spoke at the Banking Law Institute in NYC about “Fintech and the Digital Future” with panelists including Beth Knickerbocker, legal counsel and Chief Innovation Officer for the US OCC
