Logan Morton’s Expertise As a kid, I loved roller coasters and was fascinated by their design variations and how it influenced the rider's experience. When I learned engineers were behind it, I knew that's what I wanted to become. My plans changed when a high school football injury led to two back surgeries and a 2+ year recovery process. While in and out of Children's Hospitals, I met many other kids suffering from similarly drawn-out injuries. This experience caused me to realize how much potential the medical device industry had to relieve pain, shorten the length of recovery, and improve the overall effectiveness of surgeries. While roller coasters were fun, medical device engineering could change people's lives. From then on, I had my eyes set on the industry. I attended the University of Florida and graduated with a Mechanical Engineering major and Biomechanics minor. As a student, I worked as a Lab Research Assistant with Dr. Scott Banks, evaluating data on in vivo knee implants to determine contact forces. I was part of the GatorLoop design team, competing for the Hyperloop Pod Competition, sponsored by SpaceX. Additionally, I completed two internships: one with an endoscopy manufacturing facility, another with the Mind Research Network. Fresh out of college, I served as the New Product Development Engineer at Endoscopy Replacement Parts. A small company with international customers and vendors, I was responsible for all product design, development, and revision projects. I was heavily involved in quality control and worked directly with machinists for manufacturing. When ERP was acquired, I was a key role in updating our systems to meet FDA standards.
