  I have worked in education since 2003, I have taught across a range of settings and most recently led for 6 years an excellent provision supporting children with SEMH needs. My experience includes providing training to other educational settings in therapeutic practice, behaviour support, SEN, supporting pupils ADHD and creating a SEMH focussed environment. I have always worked closely with specialist advisors and Educational Psychologists to ensure pupils have the best outcomes to support their continuing education. I liaise with these professionals to support EHCPs and medical professionals to identify primary SEMH needs. Over the last 3 years my practise has evolved to ensure classrooms are inclusive calm spaces in which all pupils thrive. Access to fresh air, natural light and the outdoors will greatly influence the education landscape in the near future as we begin to accept that mental health for our society is in decline. I believe this is due to child exposure to social media, gaming and online experiences beyond their development. Until society understands the impact on the developing brain of these technology exposures we will continue to need to support families and their children with ongoing SEMH needs that continue into adolescence.
