Lucy O'brien’s Expertise Hello! I'm an arranger, accompanist, music director & composer and I'm about to head back to the USA after spending a few years at home in Australia. Some highlights while I've been home in Australia include: - playing on-stage as part of the SIX band while working as their dep music director - assisting on new musical "The Deb" at Australian Theatre for Young People in Sydney - music directing and dramaturging new musical "Voyagers", written by Loclan Mackenzie-Spencer and Andrew Strano, directed by Casey Gould. - ironically had my off-Broadway debut as an arranger, for work I did on "Skin" by Yuri Shibata and Andrew Strano. I've been teaching voice since I left high school and spent the last twelve years working on for Stage School Australia, teaching mostly 10-18 year olds as part of their music theatre program. Voice teaching has gradually evolved into audition technique coaching over the years, and I've been working with tertiary students at Monash University, Patrick Studios Australia, Federation University, In 2020, I completed NYU's Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program, which culminated with the submission of my thesis musical "Madame President," written with Gabrielle Burch & Jessie Field. Earlier in the year, Alex Higgin-Houser & presented our new interactive D&D musical "Adventurers!" with Underscore Theatre Company in Chicago as part of their new musicals festival. In 2019, Jamie Buxton & I presented our musical adaptation of "The Fox" as part of 'The Ceiling Project' - a night of one-act musicals written by women, in London, UK. I also work as a piano bar entertainer on the side! I know around 1200 songs, maybe more? I co-hosted Fab Fridays at The Butterfly Club with Andrew Strano for three years, have worked for Piano Bar Geelong for the last three years, and have done private functions and also cruised with Carnival Cruises.
