Made significant contributions to describing gene flow in P. infestans populations in Poland, US and Canada, to evolutionary changes in pathogenicity and resistance of P. infestans populations to fungicides and to understanding epidemiology of soil borne fungi. Developed monitoring system for tracking genetic changes in P. infestans populations in Poland and established large-scale field trials for evaluating potato genotypes for resistance to late blight under high selection pressure.
