Mahboob received his medical degree from Dhaka Medical College and a PhD in molecular biology from the Medical College of Pennsylvania. After completing his Internal Medicine and Rheumatology specialty training he joined the Harvard Medical School faculty. After several years of NIH funded research, clinical and teaching activity at Harvard Medical School, he joined Centocor/Johnson & Johnson and was involved in the development of Remicade, Simponi, and Stelara. He then moved to Pfizer as a Vice President of Clinical Development and Medical Affairs and was involved in the development of Xeljanz and Enbrel. In 2013 he joined Novartis, as a Vice President of Clinical Development and Therapeutic Area Head for Immunology in the Immunology and Dermatology Franchise, and was involved in the development of Cosentyx and Ilaris. In 2018 he joined Glenmark as the President and CMO, followed by Mesoblast in 2019 as Head of Clinical Development and Pharmacovigilance and CytoDyn in 2020 as Chief Scientific Officer and Head of Clinical Development.
