I helped to recruit and retain talent at Shrader Engineering for 15 years. The culture and family atmosphere were the stable of the company’s success. Graduate engineers joined the firm and they grew their careers and personal life while at Shrader Engineering. In search for the next frontier and to give employees and opportunity to further grow their careers, Shader Engineering merged with a Canadian global engineering firm. At first the company cultures seemed to align with each other, but we soon found out that they were miles apart. Employees that had been with the firm for 10+ years started leaving 6 months after the acquisition. The allure of the big box firm was not what it was cracked-up to be! After my employment separation, I took a year off to find out “what I wanted to do when I grew up”. During that time, I got my Texas real estate license and began working in the real estate business with the hope of helping people find their dream home. The 2020 Pandemic had a different plan for me. My son, Conner Shrader, now having his EE degree from Purdue University opened an engineering firm with his grand-father, Chal Shrader, also an EE. Chal has always been comfortable working alongside the next generation of engineers and sharing the vast knowledge he has gained throughout his career. Shrader Consultants was created to provide engineering services to the region. New company, same trusted brand!
