  Recently, I worked for the Nevada Division of Forestry as the Statewide Fire Adapted Communities Staff Specialist. I was tasked with evaluating and ultimately moving forward a program that for a variety of reasons had languished and not gained traction. After analyzing to determine efficacy and sustainability, I garnered agency leadership buy-in, then set about to achieve consensus amongst state and local partners. By leveraging national programs, support and funding to support long-term sustainability an achievable solution was found and Fire Adapted Nevada (FAN) was born and launched on 12/3/2020 at the Nevada Network of Fire Adapted Communities first Virtual Summit, collaboratively planned with UNRCE’s Living with Fire Program. I am also completing a Masters of Science in Psychology to better understand the research, literature & knowledge in disaster/trauma psychology with the aim to support the wildland fire community through participation in the National Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) program. I have been committed to understanding how to ameliorate the effects of PTSD & share with those in need — sponsoring an annual trauma-conscious yoga training at Sedona Yoga Festival each year, where more than 500 have been trained to bring these modalities to their own communities & share with first responders, veterans & more. I have been a Wildland Firefighter/Aviation Manager, a National Type 1 IMT member, a National Prevention Team Leader, a Regional Wildfire Prevention Coordinator & Firewise USA Leadership Award recipient, a Silviculture Forester at the largest private landowner in the world AND co-created and own the Sedona Yoga Festival with my wife, Heather; we also opened, then sold a successful yoga studio & adventure company in Sedona, AZ in a three-year time span! I've been called an expert & idiot, right, wrong, then right again, a yogi, shaman & sage, a teacher, student, leader & follower, stared death in the face too many times to count & lived through it all — at this stage of my life none of it matters, save for making a difference in peoples lives.
