Mark Porth’s Expertise Responsible for partnering with businesses, schools, community organizations, and local citizens throughout seventeen west-central Missouri counties to deliver educational programming in a variety of areas pertaining to housing through short courses, workshops, meetings, and individual consultations.Responsible for leading the Community Arts Pilot Project, a three-way partnership between MU Extension, the University of Missouri and the community of Lexington, Missouri to promote and foster community and economic development through the arts. I worked closely with the community to provide on-site project management and develop partnerships between community members, organizations, local government, and campus art departments in creating a walking/driving tour of the townu2019s architecture and history.Responsible for working with the communities of Brookfield, MO and Ashland, MO to identify and implement community and economic development strategies focused on their downtown revitalizations. Additionally, I aided the communities with: - Developing organizations that address business, social and aesthetic decisions that have to be made if the community is to remain dynamic. - Enhancing the architecture and design of downtown areas. - Assessing business activity in the community and promote economic development. - Discovering new uses for existing vacant buildings.Worked closely with Dr. Mary Hendrickson on the USDN's Urban Agriculture Best Practices and Strategies project with communities in Kansas City, MO, Columbia, MO, and St. Louis, MO. I provided research-based guidance on regional food systems as an entrepreneurial strategy for urban economic development.Served as an assistant to the Department Head of the School of Architecture, Planning, and Landscape Architecture. During my tenure, I did basic office work, program planning for the school, and worked on several design projects within the department.Worked as a lead designer for the Mendoza Home, a Habitat for Humanity project, in collaboration with Epicenter, a housing and business development non-profit organization in Green River, UT. I worked closely with clients on the overall design, production, schedule, material selections, and final drawings for the project.Worked closely with the architect of record on the redesign, production of detail/shop drawings, and ordering of materials for Jesus El Buen Pastor Lutheran Church. Additionally, I was responsible for helping organize the day to day operations on site.Primarily served as project manager for DESIGNhabitat project collaboration. I also worked on several community design projects and assisted community members in learning about financial planning and home maintenance.
