Mark Richards’s Expertise After running a successful massage business for over 20 years, I decided to pursue a new career path with the State of California at CalPERS, the largest public pension fund in the U.S. I joined the Disability & Survivor Benefits Division / Survivor Benefits Section as a Benefit Processing Technician in March 2023, and I am enjoying the challenge of learning new skills and serving the public employees of California. As a Staff Services Analyst, I apply my strengths in financial accounting, administration, customer service, and management to process and audit retirement benefit applications, payments, and adjustments. In addition, I leverage my previous experience as a Certified Massage Therapist to bring a holistic and compassionate approach to my work, especially when dealing with sensitive and complex cases.
