I started my continuous improvement journey as an aspiring industrial engineer at Ohio State. Along the way, I spent a couple of summers practicing my skills in the auto industry and working in an engineering lab during the year while I achieved my degree. I like how industrial engineering skills can be leveraged for end-to-end problem-solving across many industries. As I began my career, I was looking for a role where I could gain a more holistic understanding of business. The engineering rotational program at Mettler-Toledo was a great fit. I had the opportunity to work in many different areas of the business, including supply chain, master data management, engineering, and data analytics. I then transitioned to a role as an industrial engineer within warehouse operations at MT. In this role, I used lean principles to engage the team in driving safety, quality, delivery, and cost improvements. I led problem-solving sessions, facilitated kaizen events, and collaborated with the team to make layout changes to reduce waste and improve flow. In addition to my CI functions, I developed my skills as a power user on our ERP system (SAP), assisting with testing, training, and go-live support for new functionalities. To further develop my skills, I earned a green belt in Lean Six Sigma from Purdue University. Since I enjoyed end-to-end improvement projects, I grew into a new role at MT as an operational excellence specialist within global supply chain. In this role, I supported logistics operations in North American business units. I collaborated with teams across the region, identified best practices, and shared them with others. I deepened my knowledge of data analytics, SAP, warehouse operations, and supply chain. With each unit, I helped find opportunities, identify actions, and lead or support projects to achieve improvement. I also supported strategic projects and collaborated with global teams to develop enhanced processes and tools to enable improvement in the future. This role allowed me to drive operational excellence from a different perspective. Most recently, I'm happy to share that I joined Amgen as a continuous improvement specialist. I'll have the exciting opportunity to contribute to many CI projects and programs in manufacturing! Amgen
