  My professional life has been driven by my passion for business. I have always been drawn to the development of the relationship between a customer and a business. After receiving my BA, I took a position as the Office Manager for a semi trailer sales and service business, Sanders Trailer Service. In this role, it was my responsibility to oversee and perform most of the accounting functions, as well as managing inventory and some human resource responsibilities. This position gave me new perspectives and understanding on how the dynamic relationships within a business impacts the success or failure of that business. In 2010, as I was finishing my MBA, I took a position as an Office Manager for Farmers Cooperative Grain Associates in Conway Springs, Ks. In this role, I was able to continue developing my passion for business, while being exposed to a vast, expansive industry...agriculture. This position also brought a new prospective to the idea of "customer". The individuals we assisted everyday are the actual owners of the business...not just someone making a transaction. In my current position as an Associate Professor of Business at Hutchinson Community College, I am given the chance to focus on my two interests; business and developing relationships. With teaching multiple types of business classes, I get to work with students in many different aspects of business, including business and contract law, hr, sales, advertising, inventory management, and customer service. In these courses, we have meaningful conversations on the necessity of these areas in business operations. These business classes also give me the chance to work with students in further expanding on the concepts taught by colleagues at HutchCC. Our goal is to give our students the critical thinking skills needed to manage and operate a business, as well as the ability to develop the customer/business relationship.
