At the beginning of 2019 I took the opportunity to work for the Lookout Housing and Health Society as a Tenant Support Worker. I had previously volunteered with this organization for several years and through collaboration with senior staff I helped create a successful life skills program that focused on art and craft work. Volunteering and working for the Lookout Society led me to take a closer look at how play, recreation, and leisure work in an important role to our health and well-being. In my current occupation I am implementing programs designed to bring leisure and recreation to the individuals that I work with in meaningful and fulfilling ways. Many of the bigger seasonal projects and activities that I have organized in the last year have been appreciated and successful with the people I work with. The certifications and skills I have learned at Stenberg College in the Therapeutic Recreation program have enhanced my skillset and enabled me to have greater interpersonal, leadership, and program design abilities. These are combined with over ten years of creative and inventive work as a Fashion Merchandiser and District Visual Trainer, working and collaborating with diverse teams, as well as managing and training large groups to achieve company directives and complete large scale projects. My greatest achievements have always been helping others to succeed and to believe in their abilities. I am a flexible, encouraging, inclusive leader and believe that giving others the skills for success benefits the individual and the team greatly.
