Melissa Cramer’s Expertise Seeking an opportunity to utilize clinical, relational and analytical skills in a research environment. My private practice benefits when I am intellectually stimulated by additional projects or continuing education. Areas of interest include interpersonal and affective neuroscience, chronic pain, developmental trauma, severe mental illness, self-care in helping professions, mindfulness and holistic treatments that promote mental health and/or treat addiction. I currently serve individuals who care for others personally and professionally. This includes perinatal mental health and supporting healing and education professionals. I also serve individuals transitioning into retirement and/or living with chronic health conditions. I practice from a mind-body perspective, utilizing mindfulness training alongside cognitive-behavioral and talk therapy. My clinical practice has been influenced by research in the area of mindfulness, the use of movement practices to promote mental health, years of supervision with a modern psychoanalyst as well as collaboration and experiences with various healing professionals. I have extensive experience serving clients with severe mental illness, substance dependency and legal issues, as well as managing/assisting evaluation of projects within social service and legal institutions.
