Throughout my graduate career, I focused on human factors issues in the healthcare domain, such as simulator-based training, medical device usability and evaluation, as well as patient safety concerns. I worked on a number of healthcare related usability projects including a grant from The Agency for Healthcare Research Quality (AHRQ) in which studied the training and long term retention of surgical skills by surgeons in order to reduce error during non-invasive procedures. My experiences throughout graduate school helped me realize that usability and user experience is the type of work and research that I am most passionate about. My strong background in basic experimental research and current experience in human factors and usability testing makes me uniquely fit to work in industry positions as a usability or user experience researcher.
