In January 2020, he became the University’s first Associate Vice Provost. On July 1, 2020, he concluded his administrative service at KSU and returned to his professorship. In March 2022, following a national search, he was invited to serve as Dean of the College of Education at the University of West Georgia (UWG). He co-authored six books and a number of articles on education law, leadership and policy. In 2009, one of his books, Leading Schools During Crisis, was selected by the American Association of School Administrators as one of seven 2009 publications meriting an “author discussion session” at the 2010 National Conference on Education. He consults nationally on issues of education policy and law and is a frequently requested speaker at state and national conferences. He holds a juris doctorate from the University of Mississippi and a doctorate in education leadership and policy from Peabody College, Vanderbilt University. He was admitted by examination to the state bars of Mississippi, Alaska and Georgia.
