Mike Zenner’s Expertise I have moved from the Houston area to the Texas Hill Country & been here for 8 years. My efforts have centered on ways to give back & use skills from my career. I currently serve on the Pedernales Creative Arts Alliance Board in Fredericksburg. This organization currently funds 16 -4 yr college scholarships & many grant requests by local schools & organizations. Additionally I serve as Treasurer on the Emergency Services District Board in Kimble County. This role oversees the use of tax dollars to support EMS & Fire Depts. within the county. Finally I’ve just concluded 2+ years on the Leadership Council at Texas State University. This role supported the Development Foundation & was focused on various fund raising initiatives by the University. Without a doubt, the most important role in my post Unilever career is that of being the best GPaw in the world to our 4 granddaughters. They really keep us on our toes…love ‘em to death! Other previous volunteer roles include VP on the Harper Community Parks Assoc. My efforts included the pursuit & writing of grants from area foundations as we built a new 900,000 Community Hall. Additionally I'm a member of the Harper Chamber of Commerce, where I oversee the communities holiday decorations. Before leaving the Houston area, I served as Community Liaison, reporting to the Oakhurst Community Assoc. Board, a community of 2000+ homes near Houston. The association's annual budget is at 1.4 mil per year w/ 7 committee's serving the community. Responsible for all areas regarding the communities 13 parks, grounds maintenance contract, irrigation, and community events. Prior to this, I served on the Oakhurst Board for some 6+ years & worked regularly with Friendswood Development. During this same time, I also served as Asst. Secretary on Montgomery County M.U.D. #83 for 6 years. This Board was responsible for water service, & sewage treatment facilities for the community. Recently completed water & sewer rate analysis resulting in moving to "winter averaging" for residential sewer rates. Additionally I served as VP on the Kingwood Place West Association Board that oversees many commercial properties in Kingwood on the west side of Hwy 59 North. Successful in working with the city of Houston is adding street lights along Northpark Blvd. All of the above is my "post career" after working for Unilever/Lever Brothers for 32 years, in various sales management & headquarter roles. It's not retirement, it a whole new career of giving back!
