Prior to my online teaching venture, I taught in a Title I brick and mortar rural charter school for 5 years and had a short stint working for an education startup company, Kyte Learning, assisting to develop an ed-tech training platform for teachers. I had the privilege of being the Education Curator on the Kyte Learning team. Our goal being to provide edtech training for teachers, by teachers, in order for classroom technology to be utilized effectively. In this role I assisted in the planning, developing, and presentation of our product to fellow educators as well as seeking out quality individuals to help build the content platform, which essentially was the Kyte Learning product at the time. Our official launch was June of 2015 at the National Charter School Conference in New Orleans. Kytelearning.com had an amazing reception. Teachers, administrators, and educators, in general, were genuinely interested in our platform, validating the need for our product in the world of education. Ultimately, I missed being a teacher too much and returned to the “classroom”. As a teacher, I realize the impact I have on each one of my students, as well as the demands that are placed on me with regards to testing, training, grades, parents, meetings, attendance, etc. The list could go on forever, and the time commitment that goes along with teaching can be life-consuming, but there really isn’t anything else like it. Education is my passion and I feel that it is one of the most rewarding, yet challenging careers. I am eager to connect with other educators and professionals in the field who are interested in revolutionizing the world of education. While I truly enjoy seeing the outcomes in the classroom, I also enjoy working with teachers in order to make their experience better, and give them a more efficient workflow and better overall teaching experience.
