Mohamed Zeeshan’s Expertise I'm a foreign affairs analyst, researcher, columnist and the author of ‘Flying Blind: India’s Quest for Global Leadership’, published by Penguin in 2021. I'm currently a staff writer on South Asia for The Diplomat, and a columnist for Deccan Herald, South China Morning Post and other dailies around the world. I previously worked with the global consulting firm Kearney, advised governments in the Middle East on issues of economic reform and foreign policy, and served with the Indian delegation to the United Nations in New York. I have also separately consulted with various think tanks and policy groups in Washington, DC. In 2017, I was involved in advising India’s historic election campaign for a seat in the International Court of Justice (ICJ). Through that election, India became the first member state in UN history to replace a permanent member of the UN Security Council in the ICJ, and my research and strategic inputs were publicly credited by the Indian ambassador as a key cause for India's success. Separately, in 2019-20, as a consultant with Kearney, I was involved in drafting a multilateral declaration at the G20 Summit in Riyadh. As a columnist, I have been published by several leading global publications. I currently write a fortnightly column for The Diplomat on South Asian affairs. I also write 'The Z Factor' - a monthly Sunday column on international affairs in the Deccan Herald, one of India's leading print dailies. Other media outlets featuring my opinion essays include The Washington Post, The Telegraph, The Straits Times, The Sydney Morning Herald, South China Morning Post, The National Interest, Haaretz, The Print, The Wire, ABP News, India Today and others. I have also been interviewed or featured by various international outlets, including The Hindu, The Economic Times, The Times of India, HuffPost Live, BBC World, Voice of America, SBS Australia, Dawn News, Foreign Policy and others. My book, Flying Blind, is an inquiry into India’s global power aspirations and the unique role that India can play in international affairs. It was released by Penguin in 2021. Following its release, the book received widespread acclaim from diplomats, journalists, politicians and academics around the world who lauded its honesty and provocative arguments. Terming it a lively, one-of-a-kind book on India, Indian MP Shashi Tharoor called me "one of the more exciting and readable young voices."
