  I am a pharmacist by training, an epidemiologist by profession, a researcher by vocation, and a medical educator by passion. I graduated with a Bachelor of Pharmacy in 2008 and since then, I have continued my education across a variety of disciplines. I completed a Master of Public Health, specializing in Epidemiology (2010) and Master of Business Administration (2014) both from Jimma University, Ethiopia. To equip myself with the skills required to meet the needs of an ever-changing world of technology, I subsequently completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology (2015). In that same year, I started working as an ICT and e-Learning coordinator in the Institute of Health in Jimma University, Ethiopia. Major administrative roles aside, I continued to be an active researcher and was regarded as an expert in the epidemiology of chronic illness. Before entering the higher education sector, I had extensive experience in leadership while working as a branch manager in one pharmaceutical importing company in Ethiopia. Fortunately, my thirst for knowledge did not come to an end and my rich academic background, particularly public health and computer programming languages enabled me to focus on the use of big-data projects and their application in cancer research. My Ph.D. consists of data-driven analysis to establish the role of adiposity and related metabolic abnormalities in cancer using machine learning and genetic epidemiology as an excellent platform of research that links all my previous public health academic background and computer skills into one. I am enjoying my project being able to apply my varied skills into one in the nutritional & genetic epidemiology team at Australian Centre for Precision Health (ACPreH). University Of South
