My next set of roles evolved from ETL technical lead to ETL architect in designing and delivering the batch data integration use-cases, operational data sources, greenfield enterprise data warehouses and industry compliant data warehouses (IIW). In the process, I was fascinated with the exposure of the MDM tools, data governance principles and data analysis In the event of building data warehouses and getting the business outcome, couple of common challenge I faced are with the performance issues and bad data crossing the pathways and delaying the final outcome. This led me with the deep thought of how to stop these problems before they could arise. I started to profile the source data and get the outliers whenever any fact / assumption was made as part of design which transformed me into a fact-based designer. Then I began investing time in understanding how to model the data and design database to avoid the deliberate performance issues which took me to the path of data architect and what I am today! So, if I think what is next? it is certainly taking me to deal with different types of data with tremendous volume and how do I house the data in cloud platforms to cater the real time use-cases. I am in great addiction to data and coffee! As I taste every sip, I feel more energetic and motivated to consume little more and dive-in deeper and delight out of it.
